For a few years now we've been stocking our Anti-Waste Fridge (Community Fridge) with unsold food collected from businesses, a new program that lets us build relationships with farmers and some specialized retailers.
When they have unsold or surplus food, they let us know and we go straight away to pick it up. If there's a big amount, we distribute it to partner organizations and schools.
We sometimes transform food in cases where it's very "ripe". We're not yet properly equipped for this, unfortunately, but our volunteers have helped work wonders!

The purpose of a community fridge is to reclaim food that would normally be wasted and offer it to people who are food insecure.
They're located outside so people can access them 24/7, drop off unwanted food, and take what they find useful. Though they're for the food insecure, they can be used anonymously by anyone.
We've seen a lot more people using the fridge this year from all kinds of backgrounds (a mother goes to pick up her child from school and looks in to see what she can find, etc.).
We also rely on the public to help stock our fridge.
